Chemistry set- In 1923 a top educational toy company released a chemistry set, marketed to
boys and created for teaching basic chemistry skills. Back then, it included
all the necessary chemicals to do the experiments. Although not all chemistry

Finger paint- In
1931, a woman by the name of Ruth Faison Shaw developed the finger paint idea.
It was broadly created with the intention of developing art skills and art
education but also evolved in child therapy sessions too. Finger paint was a
brilliant idea that gave kids the opportunity to express their inner creativity
and imagination whilst having fun at the same time.

Created in the mid 1950’s and originally used as a wallpaper cleaner in
classrooms, the original ‘Play- doh’ had more potential as a play toy rather

Wagon- Started
by an Italian immigrant to the USA, Antonio Pasin is famous for starting the
mass production of the toy wagon in 1923. With his love for radio’s and
airplanes, he named it the “Radio Flyer Wagon’. Pasin set the foundation for
all toy wagons thereafter. It is still enjoyed and played with by children
throughout the world.

Hula Hoop- The
hula hoop has been a physical education favourite for hundreds of years
already. Globally commercialized in 1958 by “Wham-O toy” company, a whopping 25
million hoops were sold within months of its launch. The hip moving craze is still today a classic

First commercialized in 1963 by Kenner Inc, the easy bake oven was the start
